First Day at Disneyland

On Friday we got up really early and went to Disneyland. This picture shows the girls just as we came through the gates. We are definitely ready to hit some rides.
The first ride we went to was Indiana Jones. I took Athena and Samantha while Jeremy waiting outside. They did not like that ride the first time we went on it. They were freaked out about everything. It took about 3 more times of going on Indiana Jones for the girls to really love that ride. While Jeremy was waiting he took Nathan and Alexandra through the Tarzan's Treehouse. We did a LOT of switching at Disneyland because of the 2 little kids who can't go on lots of the rides.

We then went over to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. This was our first time on it because last time we were at Disneyland they were creating this ride and it opened the week after we left. Jeremy didn't hear the announcement at the beginning of the ride to not use flash photography. He took all kinds of pictures that first time through. He probably annoyed the people around him like crazy! This one turned out the best - it is Jack Sparrow enjoying his spoils.

I already posted the Splash Mountain picture with me in it. Here is the picture with Jeremy and the kids. We didn't buy this one, he just took the picture with his camera of the picture they display at the end. Nathan and Samantha are there, but you can't really see them.

I don't know how Jeremy managed to take this one right at the perfect time, but this is Athena, Samantha, Nathan, and I coming down the big waterfall. If you click on the picture you can see it bigger.

Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh . . . We have noticed that in a lot of pictures Samantha has her arm up in the air doing this kind of pose thing. What in the world? I guess she is just really happy to be there.

We looked over just in time to see Tigger walking down the street so we hurried and jumped in the quickly forming line to get this picture with him. Tigger is mine and Jeremy's favorite character from Winnie the Pooh. Poor Eeyore was standing a little way off from Tigger and had no line.

As usual, Athena and Samantha saw someone walking around in a pretty dress and had to go tell her she is beautiful. She was really happy with their compliments. :)

This is Athena and Samantha's favorite ride at Disneyland - Big Thunder Mountain. I don't even remember how many times they rode this ride.

Here is Nathan's favorite ride - the Merry-Go-Round. He was itching to get on this thing, so for his sake, we rode this a few times too.

During the middle of the day on Friday we had to go over to California Adventure to see the performance of High School Musical 2. Athena is really into High School Musical and we knew she would want to see it. All this kids really had fun watching and participating in the show.

This is how Alexandra enjoyed a lot of Disneyland on Friday - in her stroller.

While at California Adventure we rode several rides for the afternoon. Here is Jeremy, Athena, and Samantha on the Grizzly Bear River Run.

Overall, our first day at Disneyland was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better day. It was overcast and not too hot. The kids didn't have a single meltdown. The lines, for some odd reason, were all short. We knocked out a ton of rides and things we wanted to do. We just had a lot of fun. I really enjoyed being with the kids that day. It was kind of funny and unfortunate because in the morning, just as we got off the tram and headed into the park for the day, Jeremy remembered that he left his cell phone in the car. Mine was in the hotel. I had talked to Shauna the week before about possible meeting up together because she was at Disneyland on Friday too. It wasn't worth wasting all the time to ride the tram back to the car to get the cell phone, so we just had a very relaxing day being totally disconnected from the world.

Little did we know, we were causing mass panic within the family. They figured we were flipped over somewhere in a ditch because no one could get ahold of us and no one had heard from us since we had started travelling.

When we got back to the car there were no missed calls on Jeremy's cell phone. When we got back to the hotel, however, there were 14 missed calls on my phone. I got to spend some time straightening that out and explaining the next morning that we were simply disconnected, not dead. It's interesting that in this time of cell phones and technology that if you check out for a day people figure you for dead. Sorry to my family - it wasn't on purpose that we forgot our phones, just one of those things that happens. It is nice to know that people will come looking if we ARE flipped over in a ditch.
