Less Devoted Attention

Having Max around the house means I have a little less time to keep a perfectly watchful eye on the goings-on inside the house. I took Max outside to go potty and run around for a little bit. Little did I know, Alexandra (our monkey), had used the kitchen drawers as a ladder to get to the top. She had found the cheetos, a bowl, and managed to fix herself a "little" snack. Can't you just see how proud of herself she is?

She dumped almost all of the cheetos that were left in the bag into this heaping bowl for herself.

I decided while I was in the act that it probably wasn't the best idea for me to do a photo shoot about her proud moment. Even though it was funny to me, immediately after pictures she was taken down and I emptied more than half the bowl of cheetos back into the bag. She was ticked!

That's really funny. It is sad when they are trying to be independent and responsible for themselves, just to have it all crushed, but I would've done the same thing. My own kids have gotten themselves a bowlful of various foods like that before. In fact, recently Nathan got himself about a 1/3 cup of honey in a mug because he wanted to dip his bread in it. He was very distraught when I dumped a bunch of it back before he could use it.

That's my kind of snack! Noelle does the same thing except our kitchen chairs are so heavy I can hear her start to drag one around and can stop her mid-steal.

I always debate with myself whether to take pictures when Catherine does something naughty, but that is also cute/funny. Is it just encouraging bad behavior, or is it keeping a sense of humor and making the best out of a not-so-great thing?

Love that proud look on her face! It really would've been a shame not to record that "cheesy" smile!

I've been wanting to comment on this post for a long time, but I kept on forgetting! I LOVE that smile of hers, cheese on her face and all. She was so proud of herself too! She's just trying to be independent and take care of herself! You took away all her fun! ;)

I'm glad you did a photo shoot. I get frustrated when my kids do things like that, but it is very cute too. Those are the things we remember.
